The NHS Pensions Agency has identified errors with a portion of the Remedial Pension Saving Statements (RPSS) issued to date. As a result, they will be issuing a corrected RPSS, which understandably may cause some confusion.
While the exact number of affected individuals is unclear, the agency aims to send a replacement RPSS to 90% impacted by December 16, 2024.
How can you tell if you’re affected?
The only way to know is if you receive a revised remedial statement.
For a small number of members, it may take until February 2025 to receive the replacement RPSS. However, these medical professionals should have received a notification by December 16, 2024, informing them of this delay.
If you have already submitted your tax returns, you may need to amend them once you receive the corrected statement. For those planning to submit their returns, it might be wise to wait until after December 16 to ensure your statement is accurate.
All members have three months from the date they receive the correct RPSS to use HMRC’s tool to calculate their public service pension adjustment.
